Opinion, comment, and humor in critiquing, the 24 hour news cycle spawned, constant barrage of non-credible talking head, news-based editorial, political rumor and inuendo, self perpetuating, non-sequiter scandal mongering, and blind commitment to the defense of the extreme far left-wing conspiracy, cable ( why do you still get comercials when you pay for the channels ? ) and broadcast ( I think the DNC should lobby for an entitlement providing a satelitte dish for every household, to make sure their propaganda gets everywhere. ) television programs.
Okay, we all know that CNN ( though it really is DNN for Democratic News Network ) actually stands for Clinton Nonesense Network. Just think about the serious way Larry King looks like, when he is talking to such ridiculous Clinton attack dog types like James Carville ( man, that guy looks scarey ), but the gawking, raised eyebrows he gives anyone who criticizes the current administration. You still must give them credit in continuing their adversarial shows like Crossfire and Capital Gang; though without these CNN wouldn't even have been considered for the sniff test, let alone the laugh test. How about those Wolf Blitzer live reports, in which he tries to act like he's got some exclusive " leak " material, but everyone knows he is just repeating what the Whitehouse parasites told him to say. Bill Press is no Micheal Kinsley. I have watched Crossfire very little since his departure. Pat Buchanan is far right, but reasonably objective; he and Kinsley were a great adversarial pair, oh well.
Fox seems to be trying the hardest to be objective. When they can't be; they have the best adversarial show in Hannity and Colmes. The O'Reilly Report can be quite good. Fox seems to be the only network to have an obvious conservative show, in The Drudge Report. Matt Drudge is in the Rush Limbaugh flavor, with less straight political commentary and more guests.
MSNBC and CNBC ( just now many NBCs do we really need ? ) are 24 hour news cycle driven versions of NBC. Though it has guys like John Gibson and Chris Matthews, no amount objective anchors or hosts can out weigh Geraldo Rivera, arguably the person farthest to the left politically, living on the face of the planet. If Leon Trotsky were still alive, he could give him a good run for his money?
CBS and NBC have resisted the temptation to overload its viewers with endless editorial. Face The Nation and Meet The Depressed are fairly objective news oriented political editorial and informational programs. McLaughlin Group is a good adversarial opinion show ( though Elinore is so way out there ). Speaking of way out there, what planet was Tom Brokaw born on?
ABC didn't resist. Peter Jennings is a leftie, but he could be a whole lot worse. Politically Correct, though, that's another story. What are they trying to hide behind the " Humor " ? It is the worst form of left wing conspiracy apology vehicle; thank God is on late at night, when no one is watching.
PBS is definately a liberal organ, but 90 percent of all media voted "D" anyhow. They have a great real news hour and terrific informational editorial shows like Frontline.
Lets here it for C-Span, the most objective and humorous one of the bunch! But, ofcourse it would get the most laughs, it is usually live coverage of our government at work. Now that Sam Nunn and Alan Simpson are gone, I don't have anyone to trust there any more. C-Span's editorial content is mostly even balanced ( interviews with partisan phone calls, billed just as what they are ).
Where are all the supposed RNC attack dogs? I thought Hillary said there was a " vast right wing conspiracy " ? I only see a left wing conspiracy to broadcast speculations, and smear anyone with enough integrity to speak out against the recent tyranny of our Executive Branch. The right seems content to watch the facts play themselves out, and laugh at the silly way the left is spinning ( twisting the truth ) them as they begin to peter out. Only the guilty engage in spin. The innocent and the truthful, just tell what they know; you don't have to " spin " the truth. I just wish there was some right wing host who acted as illogical as the radical left wing ones do. There used to be Joe Pine; anyone remember him?
The Score
CNN fails the laugh test. Larry King's baffoonery is just not funny anymore. I can smell the stench through my computer, so they fail the sniff test also.
Fox passes the sniff test and the laugh test. Their political inuendo is kept to a minimum and Hannity and Colmes gets pretty hot and heavy sometimes.
The NBC family fails the sniff test, but passes the laugh test. Geraldo is tragic and sad; but his ludicrous antics of masquerading like he is trying to act like a lawyer, in defense of anything or anyone associated with the DNC is so stupid that it is quite funny to not watch. Brokaw may even be amusing, if it wasn't so darn obvious just how far he would go to defend his beloved DNC ( or say something disparaging about the RNC ). Who could forget Brokaw talking over conservative black Republican J.C. Watt, during NBC's coverage of the last Republican convention. Shame on you Tom, for trying to trivialize a gentleman like Watt, by ignoring him. J.C. has more integrity in his middle finger, than your entire network. Pass the remote honey, no more NBC tonight.
ABC barely passes the sniff test, and fails the laugh test. Politically Correct is just not funny ( maybe with a different host ), naw; I take that back. This Week is not the same anymore. Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts border on objective at times, but George Step-on-all-of-us has a " which ever way the wind blows " opinion, leaning toward Whitehouse apologist. Any criticism is delivered in a disengenuous manner.
CBS passes the sniff test; though 60 Minutes is directly linked to the vast left wing conspiracy forever with its Bill Clinton puff ( and mislead ) pieces.
PBS passes the sniff test, but fails the laugh test ( unless you watched Red Dwarf when they were airing it and its BBC, not political ).
