WNBA???

Why do we need a women's professional basketball league?

I remember when they used to call fouls in the NBA. Just about every foul I have seen committed in a NBA game lately would have been considered flagrant in 1968. The NBA has slowly become more like Wrestlemania meets Rollerball at midnight in the school yard!

So the powers that be must have wanted to bring back the no-touchy and no-feely professional basketball when they thought up this WNBA joke.

The whole idea behind the NBA is the best basketball in the world. I guess the dilution of the talent by having too many teams ( this is quite obvious to anyone who has watched the league for three decades or more ) has led the audience to be satisfied with the mediocre performances of today's teams. Sure there are still some great players, but the rest of the good players are so spread out that the teams themselves are very evenly leveled down. Think about what the 1967 76ers or any of the 60s Celtic teams would do now. Then someone will whine about how great Micheal Jordan is and how he had four 50 point games in a row. I got news for ya' Wilt Chamberlain averaged over 50 points per game for an entire season!

I believe this " leveling out in mediocrity " has caused the current sports audience to be susceptible to the lowest form of basketball possible, " professional " women's basketball ( I can't stop laughin' ). College basketball is amateur enough, but a good men's high school team could beat the best WNBA team! Is it the " women " ? Those females are not attractive...all sweaty.

Don't be fooled by all the hype, and that's all it is. These promoters have sunk a bunch of cash into a league that is losing money every game, in the hopes that it will catch on. Have you seen any sports gear commercials with the no-name female basketball players yet? They are out there, and I bet they didn't pay the woman athelete very much ( lucky for us ). We don't need to increase the money paid for advertisment; as it is directly reflected in how much we pay for the end product, at the retail store. Don't fall into the media-hype-fatcat's trap; they are only in it for the money.
