While Bill Clinton travelled to Littleton, Colorado to score some political points for his precious Democrat party and indirectly for his heir-apparent Al Gore over the massacre at Columbine High School, the United States Senate was busy caving in to the left-wing liberal scare tactics to pass a Juvenile Crime Bill loaded with politically correct new gun control laws, instead of measures addressing the emotional and ethical problems of our increasingly morally bankrupt society and another child felon shot up Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia.
Clinton, trying to convince the assembled Columbine High School students, faculty members and parents that he truely feels their pain, managed only a pathetic publicity stunt that most resembled a high school pre-game pep rally, with chants of, " We are Columbine...we are Columbine ". I won't dignify his performance with any direct quotations, but he did manage to lay the blame for the massacre mostly on the gun lobby and not his liberal relaxation of traditional morals and the demise of the American family. His faux empathy did not even raise itself to the level of gorilla theater, but was a lip-bite-fest, worthy of only a barf-bag.
As the President attempts to preach the values of solving one's problems through non-violent means, his NATO butcher bombers unload death on a hospital in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Not only was the hospital destroyed, causing numerous deaths and injuries, but Clinton's NATO criminals scored atleast a six-pack more of foreign embassies as well. The Yugoslavian media reported the embassies or residences of these countries or their ambassadors were damaged: Hungary, Israel, Libya, Norway, Pakistan, Spain and Sweden. Remember, this wholesale destruction of Yugoslavia and the intentional targetting of civilian ( they say dual purpose? ) locations by NATO, causing atleast one thousand non-combatants to be killed, was in response to less than two thousand Albanians and Serbs killed in Kosovo in 1998 ( the 1998 number is the Clinton State Department's own ). Please, ask yourself these two questions: 1) Is this ' great genocide ' really worth the billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars we are spending, when there are numerous other locations around the globe where the level of carnage is hundreds of times more numerous? And, 2 ) Are you, yourself, willing to take the blame for killing more innocent Serbian and Albanian civilians than Milosevic has, in order to help annex a small part of a sovereign country to create a homeland for a announced politically correct ethnic group from another country in the Balkans ( Albania )? It has become a case of the supposed cure being far worse than the alleged ailment!
The assembled Columbine/Littleton audience were not interested in the sincerity of Clinton's remarks, but in continuing their place in the national spotlight. After over a month of encounter group journalism, I was hoping, beyond all hope, the media would begin to cover the international stories they have been neglecting on the real story behind the Clinton/Gore War and espionage by the People's Republic of China, for instance. But no; to save their fearless leader and puff out their extreme liberal chests, they would make sure to cover up the first philanderer's greed for cash at the expense of our national security and brutal campaign of genocidal terror bombing of Yugoslavia, with the socialist left's favorite issue to blame/change the subject to: GUN CONTROL.
So, whipping the phoney outrage up to Hurricane Mitch velocity in the Senate, the radical left and the gun control lobby had their knee jerk liberal way with the spineless, still reeling from Clinton's non-impeachment vote, Republicans. The GOP leadership let a liberal amendment pass, by the worthless tie-breaking vote of the tree hugger himself, Al Gore, which would force a gun owner who pawns a firearm, to go through and pay for a additional FBI background check each and every time he pawns or recovers an already purchased and background checked gun? Am I the only one who thinks this is just crazy? Gore was so happy, he was almost foaming at the mouth. The Republicans handed him the only campaign issue he will ever need; as we all know it doesn't matter how many gun laws the socialist liberal left passes, they will always argue we need more, unless, ofcourse, the ownership of firearms is banned completely in the United States ( then they will try to ban bows and arrows and butcher knives? ). Realize this, all the guns used at Columbine were purchased legally and would still be legal, under the new Senate-passed bill. The illegality came when the two adults gave the guns to Harris and Klebold. I believe those two adults should be held responsible; oh, but then Al Gore and the Democrats would have nothing to crow about.
Senators who had the guts not to sell their souls to the Devil and the gun control lobby, by voting no on this " bad faith " ( read some Satre, if you don't understand ) measure included: Sam Brownback ( R ), Jim Bunning ( R ), Conrad Burns ( R ), Ben Nighthorse Campbell ( R ), Paul Coverdell ( R ), Larry Craig ( R ), Mike Crapo ( R ), Mike Enzi ( R ), Russell Feingold ( D ), Slade Gorton ( R ), Phil Gramm ( R ), Charles Grassley ( R ), Judd Gregg ( R ), Jesse Helms ( R ), Tim Hutchinson ( R ), Kay Bailey Hutchison ( R ), James Inhofe ( R ), Don Nickles ( R ), Pat Roberts ( R ), Richard Shelby ( R ), Bob Smith ( R ), Craig Thomas ( R ), Fred Thompson ( R ), George Voinovich ( R ), and Paul Wellstone ( D ). These two spineless jellyfish skipped the vote: John McCain ( R ) and Fritz Hollings ( D ); I would apologize if they were legitimately unable to attend, but I don't think I will be doing so, any time soon.
These Senators didn't have the guts to stand up for taking responsibility for one's own actions, but now stand with the pinko left and the confessed liar and philanderer in the Whitehouse, by voting yes on the bloated media and poll driven poltically correct, so-called juvenile crime bill ( yeah, it was juvenile alright ): Republicans; Spencer Abraham, Wayne Allard, John Ashcroft, Robert Bennett, Kit Bond, John Chafee, Thad Cochran, Susan Collins, Mike DeWine, Pete Domenici, Peter Fitzgerald, William Frist, Rod Grams, Charles Hagel, Orrin Hatch, James Jeffords, Ron Kyl, Trent Lott, Richard Lugar, Connie Mack, Mitch McConnell, Frank Murkowski, Toby Roth, Rick Santorum, Jeff Sessions, Gordon Smith, Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, Ted Stevens, Strom Thurmond, and John Warner.
