Adult cartoon-like caricatures, of the characters who occupy positions of political power in our country, march ( or sometimes slither ) across the television screens of America ( and now the world ). They just love these appearences, as they are not under oath, and they may only suffer political damage.
The misleading ( lying ) Clinton Whitehouse just loves these shows, because it can send it's minions out to " lie, deny, and stick to it ", reaching the non-cable ready television audience, in an element of their choosing. Most of the blatant spinmeisters ( liars ) that the Whitehouse sends out, have been wonderfully pre-programmed and recite their mantras with perfect precision. This week's Whitehouse mantra was not a new one, but in fact a combination of the last three week's worth, all rolled into one.
1) Wag The Polls: ' disregard all other data, except the aborted and mutated office approval numbers '.
2) Trivialize The President's Actions: ' he asked for forgiveness and we need to move on ', ' everybody does it ', and ' no impeachable offenses were committed '.
3) Attack The Messenger ( change the subject ): ' criticize Starr and the Republicans '.
4) Push Imaginary Censure ( so they can say, " bad President " ): The no-punishment, non-punishment, figmentary non-action?
*The one thing that they don't usually do, is to smear the opposition members of Congress; they leave that for their covert ( sometimes not so invisisble ) operations.
John Podesta, deputy Whitehouse chief of staff, chanted all of the above mantras, except for the fictious censure option, but added, " of the eleven charges in the OIC referral, only three are left ". What kind of spin ( lies ) is that? I still see eleven to be considered by Congress. He said, " the report is his ( Starr's ) spin ". No way man, the referral is a judicial document, and Podesta's misleading commentary is spin ( lies )!
Rahm Emanuel, senior Whitehouse advisor, preached his line of indecency, vigorously mentioning all of the above, including some comments about the possible not-so-covert, non-muck raking of Sidney Blumenthal, Whitehouse cronie supreme.
Legislators of both persuasions get into the act ( and for some, I sure hope it was an act ).
Senator John Kerry ( a man I used to think had some principles ), when asked if the President had disgraced the country said, " Congress has disgraced the country ". That answer is both an attempt to change the subject and divert the blame, and a dig at Republicans. This indicates to me, that he has totally lost all of whatever integrity he may have previously had! He did say that Clinton should testify before Congress, but we all know just what Bill Clinton does, when he is " testilying ".
Senator John Ashcroft said that Congress should deal with the impeachment issue as quickly as fairness would allow, and the President should come forward to testify in Congress. He did say the President should resign for the good of the country.
Representitives Barr and Wexler squared off, with Wexler saying that even if all the OIC referral charges are true, that they are not impeachable offenses. I wonder just where Wexler's morals have gone to? I guess his value system is only, " DNC uber alles " and nothing more? Barr is very conservative, and his morality is beyond question ( you may not aggree with his opinions )! Maybe, Wexler was at the DNC fund-raiser where national chairman Steve Grossman spoke of the President and praised, " the moral leadership to this country, that he has provided, has enriched the life of virually every citizen" ( where has that guy been? ).
Representitives Hutchinson and Meehan from the House Judiary Committee, had differing views on whether the committee had started out in a partisan manner ( remember that 2/3s of the overall House Democrats voted to start this process and to release information by September 28, but the majority of Democrats on the Judiciary Committee voted against it ). The Clinton-programmed Democratic attack-robots on the Judiciary Committee have a vested interest in stirring up trouble, using their vocal minority. Meehan danced around the issues and didn't do a very good job of repeating the Whitehouse mantras, but he did have the radical idea of holding the Judicial Committee closed hearings, as open ( like whatever happened to privacy, and doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of examining the material for things to redact? ).
