*Sandy Berger ' Ate The Suppressed ', when asked about his actions on Red China stealing the most secret of our nuclear weapons designs saying, " We acted appropriately, we acted swiftly ". He continued with, "...in 1996 we didn't know who, how or what. Congress was informed, I believe, before we were "? Oh man, this guy is really hiding the truth. He said this atleast twice, " We are talking about breaches of security that happened in the 1980s ". I am still wondering why a second rate financial paper-pusher like Berger was made Clinton's National Security Advisor? This guy is passing the buck after he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, though he said, " No decisions were made based on campaign contributions ". This guy must resign, he is a Clinton yes-man only. We all saw how Clinton bent over and spread 'em in Red China last summer, and he obviously knew all about the Red Chinese spying at the time! There can be no doubt now that Bill Clinton is " The Manchurian Candidate " and is bought and paid for by dirty Chinese money! When asked whether or not a Red Chinese attack on Taiwan would be considered an attack on us, he danced around the issue and wouldn't give an answer, only saying it would be a " serious matter ". This is a disgrace, as we have a signed treaty that says we would consider an attack on Taiwan as one on U.S. soil. This hesitation on Berger's part is grounds enough for him to resign, as the communist forces of Red China have been massing missiles directly accross from the island for a few years now!
Senator Richard Lugar ( R ) said the Congress brought this ( Red Chinese spying ) to light and not the administration. This is an important point, as Berger was doing absolutely nothing about this until it went public! On the question of Taiwan, Lugar did not hesitate at all, saying " We are going to defend Taiwan ". He thought Clinton has been soft on China and " our policy toward China needs serious rethinking ".
Representitive Norm Dicks ( D ) did admitt " they ( the Clinton administration ) were slow to react to that ( firing the alleged spy ) ", but then settled into a partisan political stance of defending the President at all costs ( a very familiar position for mindless Democrats lately ) instead of answering the questions with, " We found that campaign contributions made no difference ". But when asked what Chris Cox would say, he said he would probably say that we didn't look into it enough. This sounds like Dicks is talking out of both sides of his mouth!
Republican presidential hopeful Pat Buchanan addressed Berger's remarks of appropriateness and swiftness in dealing with the Red Chinese spying with, " When it takes three years, I don't think that is swift ". On firing Sandy Berger, he thought " someone has to be held responsible ", and " it took one afternoon to fire the Whitehouse Travel Office ". On The People's Republic of China ( I still can't get used to calling it that ) he declared our " policy of engaging, is a policy of appeasement ".
*On ' Cokie's Weak ', Bill Richardson got to defend the Clinton administration, as he has been Energy Secretary only since last August. When asked by Sam Donaldson why it took three years for this PRC spying to be addressed, Richardson said, " the administration acted swiftly and responsibly " ( atleast he said ' swiftly ' and Berger said ' responsibly ' - proving no prior conference meeting on talking points ). " This was discovered in the 80s ", he said, possibly misspeaking. Cokie Roberts pressed him, pointing out that there was no action, but all of a sudden after a newspaper story on last Sunday the alleged spy was fired on Monday? Richardson replied, " We took action before that ". Cokie then asked about Red Chinese visitors to Los Alamos and Richardson responded, " the visitors program is not the problem ". Oh man, is this guy doing the ostrich routine or what? George Will asked about illegal email several times and never received an adequate answer; only getting this out of Richardson, " We have top-notch security ". Great; good non-answer. Asked about why the spy was only fired, Richardson whimpered, " these are sensitive matters ". This guy is quite obviously only a Clinton yes-man!
Representitive Christopher Cox ( R ), Chairman Select Committee on China, was unable to answer all the questions put to him, because his committee's report has yet to be declassified and released to the public. He did comment on selective leaking of the information provided to the Whitehouse, but didn't accuse them directly with, " we are appalled by the leaking of this information ", adding, " this is a Congressional position and not a Republican position ". When quizzed about People's Liberation Army money from Red China going to Democratic National Committee coffers, he could offer no details, but said, " the issues of Chinese money, campaign contributions, is covered in our report ". Asked about the Clinton administration's defense of it's conduct by pointing it's finger at things which occurred in the late 1980s, he said, " This problem is an ongoing problem ". Showing his disdain to politicize this breach of national security and attack Democrats he said, " Bill Richardson has been on the job since August, I am glad to see someone..."
The rest of the hour was a Hillary Clinton for Senator love-fest with Democrat Senator and Clinton lapdog/yes-man, Charles Schumer. It made me want to puke. Why are the networks continuing to give the first-enabler all this unwarranted publicity?
* ' Displacing Alienation ', Senator John McCain ( R ) thought " there is a need for a complete and thorough investigation " into the Red Chinese receiving sensitive secret materials. He thought any investigation should be done by an outside entity like the Tower Commission and suggested Sam Nunn, because " the Justice Department did not investigate campaign contributions coming out of China ". He added that " there is clear evidence this money came in, after all they had to give it back ". He thought " our policy toward China is floundering at best " and offered as an example that " in 1992 Clinton said they were the bloody butchers of Beijing but in 1998 they were our partners? " On why Clinton's failures of foreign policy are showing up all of a suddenl, he commented, " the chickens are coming home to roost after six years of inattention " and " you can go around the globe and find failed U.S. foreign policy everywhere "! On the Internet, he remarked, " I have been into those issues for years and years even though I didn't create them ". This brought forth a little chuckle.
Senator Robert Kerrey ( D ) said we should wait for committee investigations to conclude before asking for Berger's resignation. Yeah, right; sure, whatever.
*Oh Yeah, besides some other issues, Wolf Blitzer still felt the need to ' Berate the Condition ' of the Office of Independant Counsel in his typically liberal partisan Democrat CNN manner with Lanny Davis ( groan ) and Dick Thornburg. Thornburg was repeatedly cut off when trying to address the blantant lies and inuendo that Blitzer allowed Davis to vomit! Blitzer brought up Gore's gaff in an interview with him about creating the Internet, but put he it in an apologetic context? Sad but understandable from the network which has become an obvious mouthpiece for the DNC!
I thought it was going to get much more hot and heavy this Sunday, because the burning issue of the week was a serious breach of nuclear weapons related security and impacts directly on our continued survival as a nation. Have we the public been so anesthetized by the seemingly endless string of scandals, which Ross Perot predicted would be hitting us if we elected Bill Clinton way back in 1992? It is a sorry state of affairs when we just shrug our shoulders as every new one surfaces, even if they mean our eventual irradiation at the hands of the communist dictatorship of The People's Republic of China?
