The House of Representitives passed a bill of impeachment inquiry on Bill Clinton, yesterday. This is the first strike, in the possible impeachment process, that could bring an abrupt end to his term as President. I believe all Republicans and 31 Democrats had the honesty and integrity to vote for the inquiry. Two more strikes and he's out ( House and Senate votes for Clinton's impeachment? ).
Wallstreet liked it, responding with jumps of 167+ for the Dow and 73+ for NASDQ. That 73+ is real nice.
What was really amazing, is that Clinton actually signed the continuing resolution to keep the government funded, while the last of the appropriations are being passed. Just wait and see, he could still bugger this one up and try to pin the blame and the Republicans.
It may be tough to get any real hearings done, with guys like Barney Frank and John Conyers around to obfuscate. Also not helping the process, are certain votes against impeachment, no matter what the eventual facts may be , by guys like Charles Schumer ( he has been getting the million dollar fund raising routine, from old Bill; 'nuff said ).
The real losers, are us. Bill Clinton and the Democratic party will stop at nothing in their morally bankrupt defense. The Congressional Democrats, who act like Clinton's lawyers, should be voted out of their offices! The people of their districts who vote for them, are unwitting partners in the defense of indeceny. Their votes indicate the decay of morality in our own society. Just look at all the rich movie stars coming out to defend him. I thought the Democratic party was suppose to represent the regular folks; not the rich fat cat Hollywood types and millionaire lawyers?
The only winners, are the lawyers representing the witnesses and associates. If the President had just told the truth or settled the Paula Jones affair, all of these folks wouldn't be a few million dollars richer ( and their clients a few million dollars poorer ). Now you know why the lawyers like him so much.
Hey man, Al Gore is on deck...scary thought.
