* 'Pleading Duress ', Tim Russert had Sunday Services with the Reverend Jesse Jackson. Whatever your opinion of Jackson, he was a master at securing the release of the three American POWs from Yugoslavia. Jackson believed we should negotiate with Milosevic, saying, " We should not miss this opportunity. It could be a long bloody confrontation ". He continued, " They will not back down ". When pressed by Russert on whether Milosevic would back bomb after bombing said, " Absolutely not. We are not bombing their miltary, but civilians targets ". On the campaign of propaganda and spin from the White House, he said, " There is enough demonizing to go around ".
William, Democrat in Republican clothing, Cohen, Secretary of State to the One World Government was questioned by Russert about opening negotiations with the Serbs, and he coldly replied, " It is highly unlikely. Mister Molosevic knows what has to be done ". He then went into a clammy litany of spin, worthy of the best Clinton lying, using buzz words like " evil " and " burning the bodies " in a near perfect rendition of the standard White House talking points on Kosovo. He finished the segment with, " We are going to intensify the bombing ", and " we are ready to wage this campaign for months to come ". Cohen truely has civilian blood on his hands from his complicity in NATO's ( America's ) bombing of Yugoslavia. Cohen brought his animated G.I. Joe doll, General Joseph Ralston, who violated just about any unspoken responsibilities he may have had to the military institution in general by offering up White House political spin instead of the truth, said, " Milosevic...created hundreds of thousands of refugees ". Can he really believe that it hasn't been his missiles and bombs? Anyhow, Russert partially redeemed himself by asking Cohen one question about the reported espionage by the People's Republic of China specifically during the Clinton administration. The sad thing was Cohen dodged the answer over and over again, saying, " I want to wait and see that ". What is that supposed to mean, man? He refused to address Russert's direct question about Clinton lying at his press conference about this very issue exactly.
Next was a dueling Senators face-off with Don Nickles ( R ) and Christopher Dodd ( D ). Nickles opened with, " This war is not going well ", and Dodd replied, " The good news is our three soldiers are coming home; the bad news is that seven thousand refugees were thrown out today as well ". Dodd then stressed, " This man ( Miolosevic ) is a war criminal ", and Nickles countered with a rhetorical question, " Are we going to go into Serbia and search door to door for him "? Nickles then began, " Our military calls it a war, the administration calls it a campaign ". Dodd said, " We support what's going on ", and Nickles questioned, " What's the objective; are we going to own Kosovo? ". Dodd said, " We can't afford not to do it ". Dodd certaintly seemed like the good little Democrat lapdog, and Nickles the realist. Russert then hit them with the Red Chinese espionage question. Nickles volunteered that it was the " most serious case of espionage in US history... The administration was so inept at stopping this...he ( the alleged spy ) was only fired after the New York Times went public ". Dodd was as evasive and defensive, as Nickles was outraged, and offered, " If the allegations are proven, I think heads have got to roll ". This false sense of phoney Democrat spin was his way of not denying laws were broken, but only addressing whether or not it could be proven ( coincidentally, the Clinton White House standard operating procedure ). Nickles finished with a strong statement, " I have been in the Senate for nineteen years and this is the worst I have ever seen ".
Okay, so he had to have the politically correct segment on violence in the media; I wasn't surprised when he brought up gun control. This still was kicking a deflated high school football around, looking for more tear-jerking action and possible sound bites, with a Chairman ( AOL ), a General ( Surgeon ) and a Senator ( Brownback ).
*' This Squeak ' saw Jesse Jackson making a videotaped appearence. He didn't add much, but said he suggested to Milosevic that he should " invest in the possibility of diplomacy " by releasing the POWs. He declared, " their release is unconditional ". He blamed the lack of negotiation firmly on the White House with, " The problem is NATO will not stop the bombing ".
The weak really squeaked, as they fell into the politically correct subject of gun control. Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts bought in on the liberal attack the object instead of taking personal responsibility for your actions falacy; though Cokie less than Sam. Eric Holder, Deputy Attorney General, was there to pontificate as a gun control advocate and a politically appointed Department of Justice employee ( or was he? ). It was pure guano, and a poor collection of scripted Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse talking points spinmeister lines. Cokie actually had the best line, as she thought to " make parents responsible if their kids use guns ". George Will tried to insert some logic, but Holder would only spew gun control bile, instead of addressing responsibility, or even the possible violation of dozens of existing gun laws that were broken, at a recent high school shooting. George Will had the guts to ask about the Red Chinese espionage in 1998, but only recieved this from Holder, as an answer to why the spy has not been arrested, " There was no probable cause "?
They all ganged up on Charlton Heston to assault him, but failed. They played a Bill Clinton videotape with Clinton saying, " keep educating the kids on gun safety, but stop wasting your energy ( on lobbying Congress ) ". To this, and other attacking questions, Heston had this to say. " The problem is not the availability of guns. The problem is the administration chooses not to prosecute them ( gun law offenders ) ". " There are two thousand federal laws and they refuse to move on them ". And finally, " I am not interested in denying the purchase, I am interested in putting them in jail ". Amen.
*' Facing Elation ' as the three POWs were heading home, Bob Schieffer had a softball game with Strobe Talbot, Deputy Secretary of State ( and new apprentice spinmeistering liar ). On Schieffer's first question about a peace negotiation in Yugoslavia, Talbot replied, " It's ridiculous...it's a publicity stunt ". Beginning to figuratively beat his chest, Talbot continued to rant, " NATO's conditions are unmutable...we will continue the bombing ". Like some terrible performance in a really bad " B " movie, Talbot raved like a maniac that Milosevic was committing " the worst atrocity since World War II ". I think he should have said ' NATO ' and not ' Milosevic '. This power-hungry democRAT was almost gleeful, as he declared, " a very robust international force must go in ", but he made sure to parse his words correctly, saying, " permissive and safe environment ". You can see the Clinton-speak lies coming true, can't you? Not thinking this crude beginnings of a lie was enough, Talbot even began to take credit for the release of the three POWs today for the administration by suggesting Sandy Berger had told Jackson what to say, or atleast given him his blessing to go to Belgrade. It was thick, it was smelly, it was classic arrogant Strobe Talbot, ' do you believe me or your own lying eyes ' liberal one world government spin.
Then came the hawk of the hour, Senator John McCain ( R ) to beat the war drum, calling Milosevic a " war criminal " and using all the buzz words and phrases, like " ethnic cleansing ". He announced, " We will do whatever it takes to bring Milosevic to the table ". Man, you know Clinton and his obedience trained Democrat lackies just love it when they see a Republican talk like this about the Clinton/Gore War. I was beginning to get thoroughly disgusted until McCain offered this curve ball to his DNC friends, " The President is more intent on his presidency, and not the institution of the president ". He finished with a threat, " We can cut off funds ".
All in all a much more positive Sunday than last week.
