*On CNN's ' Demons, Crap, Fart and Feel's Good ' ( yeah, I know it's on Saturday, too ), Senator Richard Shelby ( R, but used to be D ), Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, was hosed by the ' Shieldsvac '. On the conflict in Kosovo, he said " I don't believe we are winning it today ". On introducing ground troops he said, " We ought to debate it in the Senate ". On the state of the Yugoslavian military, he continued, " they're in relatively good shape ". He thought if a ground campaign was necessary, that it would " be tough, bloody but ultimately we would prevail ". He said, " I am not sure the case has been made by the President ". Shelby is a hawk and wants to vigorously go after " the essentials that make Serbia run ". He was mad about the spying by the People's Republic of China and the Clinton administration's part in clouding the issue. He thought our military was " stretched thin ". He thought " the Europeans should shoulder the burdon in resettling the Kosovars ". Shield remarked that " He ( Shelby ) was alarmed about China " and Novak seemed very surprised that, " He ( Shelby ) has bought into the entire formula of the Clinton bombing ".
*Tim Russert should just ' Beat The Whole Mess '. Instead, he threw softball questions to a visibly shaking and obviously physically unfit to be Attorney General of The United States, Janet Reno. She commented on, what else, the shooting at Columbine High School, saying " The state and local authorities will do everything possible ". I say, why bother asking her anything. Finally, why didn't Russert ask her any questions about the nuclear secrets bought or stolen by agents of the People's Republic of China? I guess the powers that be finally managed to tie up the Russert-dog.
Oh man, the choke-chain marks on Russert's neck were really showing, after he was done with an interview with Bill Clinton's main partner in NATO's international crime and punishment of Yugoslavia, Britain's ' liberal as they come ' Prime Minister Tony Blair. Blair boldly declared, " We have done enormous damage to their ( Serbian ) military machine ". He continued, " We got to put troops on the ground now as the weather clears ". Sheesh, these liberals really find it easy to order up military action, when it's someone else's blood they are spilling. He said, " We cannot allow a policy of genocide... his troops have to get out, all of them ". He preached that there will be " no compromise of the basic aims of NATO ". What are these aims, Tony? World domination by NATO countries? Well, he continued on and on, using buzz words and phrases like, " raped ", " murdered ", " little children " ( he must have had a long talk with the President or James Carville about what to say ) and " Milosevic doesn't have a veto over our course of action ". I think this last phrase about " veto ", betrays why Blair and Clinton didn't go to the United Nations, because Russia or China have the power of veto there and NATO has always been just a rubber stamp for American politics and policies. On whether or not Milosevic is a war criminal, Blair was tongue-tied, but said, " We will provide evidence that we have discovered. I don't think anyone can doubt Milosevic had operated with brutality in Kosovo ". It is just disgusting to see Blair regurgitate this bile, while his unholy NATO aerial butchers are specifically targetting helpless innocent civilian sites in Yugoslavia! He ended this poor excuse for an interview not being able to answer two simple questions from Russert: 1) Why is this not Vietnam and 2) Why should American boys shed their blood in Kosovo? Instead of an answer, he was able to spin a few last lines containing, " The conflict is just and right...global economics...global security ". It was a total waste of time to watch.
Pat Buchanan and Senator Joseph Lieberman ( D ) faced off. Buchanan showed his independence and Liberman showed his Clinton yes-man obedience training. Buchanan began with, " There is no vital interest in Kosovo. They are fighting for an ancient part of their sacred territory ". He continued, " It has become a war to save NATO's face ", noting that, " Reagan had the courage to pull the Marines out of Lebanon ". Lieberman began his White House ordered and scripted lies with, " We can't allow a communist dictator to committ genocide in Europe ". I guess he thinks it's okay for an American dictator to order genocidal bombing on a sovereign state in Europe, if it is communist? Lieberman began a litany of blatant direct premeditated lies, blaming Milosevic for the break-up of Yugoslavia, when he darn well knows it broke up because of the demise of the CCCP! He finished with a choreographed propaganda line containing, " slaughtering the Kosovars " and " a noble fight for a worthy cause ". I just wonder if he would be saying this if he had a son serving in an infantry unit bound for the Balkans? Buchanan allowed Lieberman to finish digging his hole in the ground with more lies; then he ended the face-off with, " There is no genocide there ( Kosovo ) " and he called the campaign in Yugoslavia a " Balkan Bay of Pigs ".
He finished with a round table discussion on being touchie-feelie with kids and gun control; I won't even dignify it by listing it's participants. It was drippy and sticky sweet with political correctness!
*The ' Weakest Geeks ' started with a real stuffed shirt, Javier Solana, NATO Secretary General. He was visibly happy at finally becoming a winner for a change, though how temporary a condition that is, only time will tell. He began with " We can't stop the bombing ", and he talked gleefully about a " naval embargo ", like a typical sheep in wolf's clothing. He wouldn't answer the question of whether or not they would stop Russian ships on the high seas; even after Sam Donaldson pushed him on it twice. On getting the Russians involved in the Kosovo/Yugoslavia problem, he seemed quite pleased with himself when he said, " It is not necessary ". Whoa, it is scary how much these NATO shrimps can pontificate, knowing the power of the United States military is behind their empty threats. He declared that in regards to what Serbia must do, " the five points are very clear ". Funny, I find they make subtle changes almost every day? George Will demonstrated that he himself has bought into the Clinton/Gore War and the White House spinmeister routine as he robotically described the " massive campaign of war crimes " ( obviously in reference to Serbia and not the clearly proven NATO butcher-bombers ). Later, George; I knew you were a worm that would turn. Solana responded to the question of Milosevic being painted as a war criminal with, " It is not for me to know...I am not that concerned about the future of Milosevic ". On the extension of NATO's mandate and their vow not to let the United Nations get in the way ( proving the criminal nature of the NATO alliance beyond a shadow of any doubt ), " We are not going to allow the massacre to continue, if we can't get a resolution through the UN ". Isn't the UN the legal way to do things in a civilized world? Man, this sounds like the stuff Saddam Husseins are made of , not diplomats. Solana really started showing those colorful war feathers, when asked about ground troops, he said " It is an ongoing plan ". Isn't it now blatantly clear that both Clinton and the representitives of the NATO member countries and possibly even the " partner nations " have known all along that an invasion of the sovereign state of Yugoslavia was the eventual plan!
Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott ( R ) thought all necessary force should be used. This Republican hawk is riding the fence between using the situation to save military spending in the coming millennium and exposing the President's failed foreign policy efforts. He rightly said, " They are worried the bombing won't be enough ". He showed some weenie political correctness with, " Milosevic, he's the guy, he's the problem ", and " We should bide our time and hope the bombing has the desired effect ". Just when I thought the smell was going to rub off on me, he questioned, " How is this going to be paid for? " He partially redeemed himself by taking a position against passing a blank check-like resolution in the Senate for Clinton to spend with, " I would not vote for Senator McCain's motion ". He stood up for himself for a moment with, " I had my doubts about the bombing working...that's why I voted against the bombing campaign " He opined that we should quickly " find a way " to a " negotiated settlement ". Staying lucent for the moment, he said " There is concern about how we got into this situation ", and " it's the United States doing the job...ninety percent ". On the use of United States ground troops, he said " I don't think there has to be a U.S. component ". He fell back into the Washington D.C. spinmeister rountine pit with, " We need to support the men and women, the troops ", though he did admit that " morale is a problem now ". The interview ended with the question of the day, by Cokie Roberts, on funding for the illegal Clinton/Gore War, " Does the money come from the Social Security Trust Fund? " Trent Lott didn't waffle on this one, answering " yes ".
*The ' Nation was Defaced ' today, as Bob Shieffer neglected the Red Chinese espionage and Yugoslavian situations for the bliss of the high ratings of talking about the high school massacre, gun control and regulating the Internet. Shieffer's White House obedience training is now complete. It's a bad day for CBS...
Not even a mention of the Red Chinese espionage, except for Senator Richard Shelby...sad, really sad.
