Snowe Job?

Or a high Collinsic?

Shame on Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. They voted for the acquittal of Bill Clinton on both impeachment articles ( actually either one could have cast the simple majority vote that never happened, on the obstruction of justice article ). Is it just the close proximity of Democrassachusetts to Maine, which caused this unusual behavior in a Republican?

Susan Collins.

Okay, you can forgive her for voting with the Democrats on the perjury article, but not on the obstruction of justice article. She was just so Democrat-like, that I barely could believe it. It was astonishing? I remember seeing her on a Senate oversight hearing of some kind and she acted fairly tough...it must have been an act! This one quotation from her website just about says it all, " The question before us is not whether President Clinton's conduct was contemptible or utterly unworthy of the great office he holds. It was. The question before us is whether the President has committed an impeachable offense for which he should be removed from that office. " Showing a complete disregard for the oath of impartiality she took, Collins then continued in Democrat-like words, " The Framers wanted the Senate to make not only a determination of guilt, but also a judgment about what is best for our nation and its institutions. " This sort of sounds like that baloney Robert Byrd was saying the Sunday before the vote; more than sort of. She went on to say that article one was not proven but article two, though proven, was not impeachable? Read this, " if I were a juror in an ordinary criminal case, I might very well vote to convict faced with these facts. Nevertheless, I do not think that the President's actions constitute a "high crime" or "misdemeanor" as contemplated by Article II ". Can you believe that?

Hey man, what gives? This women was supposed to be an impartial juror, do you see impartiality? Her own words prove she went much farther than impartial in the Senate impeachment trial!

Olympia Snowe.

It's not a Republican, it only put an " R " next to it's name so it could run against the other Democrat.

This is what it said in a press release available on her website ( oh no, I said her and not it ), "My struggle throughout this process was to reconcile the President's lowly conduct with the Constitution's high standards. From the day I swore my oath to do impartial justice in this trial, I determined that the only way I could approach this case was to ask myself, if I were the deciding vote, could I remove this President under these circumstances? The answer, I have concluded, is ‘no'." She can talk like this all day long, but her conduct is forever etched in the history books!

This is just the but-covering crap you would expect from a Democrat and not a Republican. Ironically, she says this before rationalizing her no vote on the perjury charge because, "I find insufficient evidence of the necessary elements, particularly materiality." She got a little less creative on article two, just saying it wasn't a high crime and misdemeanor. Using suspiciously Democrat-talking points memo-like phrases such as, " does the President's misconduct, even if deplorable, represent such an egregious and immediate threat " does not hide the liberal lurking within this imitation member of the Republican party! This just has to be the most shameful conduct one could possibly imagine!

Eat some lobsters, whoop it up; you both remind me of female versions of Ted Kennedy anyway.

Oh man, you know I really thought Arlen Specter had lost it completely in casting those two votes of " Not Proven ". I heard him trying to rationalize these votes prior to the actual proceedings and it was laughable. Everyone has beat the Senator from Scotland thing to death, but it deserves to be remembered as one of the most ludicrous political cop-outs of all time! He must be held to take responsibility for the tied vote on article two, as he knew they were counting his vote as " not guilty ". He is just as responsible for the defeat of that simple majority vote, as the above lobster twins!

It is interesting that the other two Republicans who could have saved a simple majority vote on article two were John Chafee from Rhode Island and Jim Jeffords from Vermont. Both of these are New England area states and dangerously close to Democrassachusetts ( or maybe Scotland...or even Pennsylvania? ).
