NATO Looks The Other Way With It's Own War Criminals?

NATO member nation, Turkey, is guilty of far worse war crimes than Yugoslavia is only charged with!

Remember the main reason why NATO ( The United States ) had to quickly intervene in the sovereign nation of Yugoslavia's internal affairs? It was the alleged war crimes, including ethnic cleansing and genocide, by the Yugoslavian Serbs, being committed against the Muslim Kosovar Albanians. Well, if the NATO member nations want to stop genocide and ethnic cleansing in the world, they need only look in the mirror, to find a many times greater offender. If we are willing to look the other way, as to their possible war crimes involved with the bombing of Yugoslavia, NATO Alliance member nation Turkey, is guilty of war crimes, including the ever-popular ethnic cleansing and genocide, against it's indigenous Kurdish population.

Abdullah Ocalan's Kurdistan Workers Party ( PKK ), is the much more altruistic version of the more criminally inspired Kosovo Liberation Army ( UCK ) " rebels " in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, but in the Kurdish parts of Turkey. The big difference, is that Turkey was allowed to police it's internal affairs and Ocalan is in government hands awaiting trial!

One of the similarities, is that whole cities, like Lice, have been destroyed by government troops bent on putting down the internal insurrection. Turkey does not recognize it's twelve million Kurds as a minority group. It is illegal to teach in the Kurdish language. Doesn't this sound far worse than what was happening in Kosovo?

Louis Meixler of the Associated Press reported. " According to human rights groups, soldiers destroyed thousands of villages believed to have aided the guerrillas or that refused to set up pro-Turkish village guards. About half of the fifty-six villages near Lice have been abandoned or destroyed ".

Doug Bandow, of the CATO Institute, said that Turkey has " done " the same things with Kurdistan, as NATO has accused Yugoslavia of doing with the Kosovar Albanians. When asked why the appearence of a double standard by Clinton and NATO, he answered, " Turkey is a critical ally ". He said the world's humanitarians have " turned a blind eye toward NATO members like Turkey ".

Yes, this type of selective memory loss, is standard operating procedure for the Clinton administration!
