It's Friday morning and there are a bunch of chairs set up in the Rose Garden of the Whitehouse. The audience of DNC supporters and Whitehouse appointees applauds, as our Imperial President approaches the podium. After his successful DNC love-fest and partisan trashing of Congressional Republicans yesterday, he decided to repeat the performance on a much grander scale!
The Campaigner and Chief seemed quite happy in proclaiming that the Democrat tax and spend programs had been passed over the objections of the " partisan " Republicans. Maybe the Republicans completely caved in, or maybe not; we shall see, as the details surface. The one thing that is clear, is that Clinton has broken his promise to fix Social Security before spending any of the budget surplus!
In a campaign speech like manner, he announced that " we " got more money for: education, the environment, disaster relief, the IMF, etc. Where did this money come from? The budget surplus that the Democrats have so loudly proclaimed would go to saving Social Security, was the source ( actually, the actions of the Republican controlled Congress brought this balanced budget and surplus, to reality )! He did sheepishly add that there is still enough of a surplus left to save Social Security ( typical liar and chief rhetoric ).
Yesterday's preview version of today's gala announcement and campaign opportunity, contained all the same elements of this morning's emotional opening ceremonies of the fall campaign season. Too bad, the President looks more at home attacking and villifying Republicans, than addressing the issues still remaining. Over night, he only thought up more derogatory adjectives and adverbs to describe the Republicans, who just compromised with Erkskine Bowles ( not Clinton, who can't be trusted to keep his word ).
The most humorous thing that the President said, was that Republicans are busy going back home to campaign, instead of finishing the business of the country. Funny, as Clinton has been AWOL for over one hundred fund raisers, and the year is not over yet. I guess, his faulty criticism of them, is in response to the Republican leadership pointing out Clinton's obvious import of fund raising and campaigning over negotiating the work of the government.
After being a Democrat for decades, it still mystifies me how the Republicans have become the party of fairness and compromise, while the Democrats have become the party of rich fat-cats, partisanship and broken campaign promises. Maybe, this comes from being in the minority, for a few election cycles? I got it; it's " minority sickness ", and not " morning sickness "!
