Monuments to The Great American Dictatorship

Teddy Roosevelt is rolling over in his grave, as Bill Clinton uses the 92nd anniversary of his dedication of Grand Canyon National Park ( later to become a national monument ) in a feeble attempt to polish his tarnished reputation and to phoney up a lasting legacy for himself, other than impeachment, via the creation or expansion of four national monuments.

In an effort to build an imaginary legacy for himself and to pander to Al Gore's tree hugger environmentalist friends, our first philanderer has raised his ugly despot head and dictatorially declared millions of acres of land off limits to such activities as hunting, fishing, mining, off-roading and other wilderness associated developements. Today, January 11, 2000, Clinton used the Antiquities Act of 1906 to create three new national monuments and expand an existing one. In California, Pinnacles National Monument, just south of San Jose, was expanded and a new one covering the coastline and small islands off California's coast, California Coastal Monument, was created. In Arizona, the Grand Canyon-Parashant ( North Rim ) and Agua Fria National Monuments were born, with a stroke of Bill Clinton's pen. I don't know about Pinnacles, but the area which California Coastal covers is incredibly rich in offshore oil and many people who live on the islands have been made homeless already. The areas in Arizona are rich in minerals and not very near the Grand Canyon, though they took great care to mix the name with Parashant.

On the surface, this act of creating and/or expanding existing national monuments may seem to be a good thing. The problem is that normally the local and state governments, as well as the people who live there, are consulted prior to the declaration. In this case, nobody but the corruption scandal racked Interior Secretary, Bruce Babbitt, was asked. In fact, the local and state governments from Arizona pleaded with the selfish, most corrupt chief executive in history, not to do this, as it will displace a large number of people who live in and near the areas in question.

Normally, the process in creating a national monument includes all the parties involved and takes a few years. In the case of the circumventing Clinton, it only took a whim! In Arizona Governor Jane Hall, Senator John McCain and others, wrote a letter to the president urging him not to make this unwelcome and truely harmful land grab. Mohave County Supervisor, Carol Anderson, whose local government covers an effected area, said, " We think it is totally disrespectful of the local community ". In California, Governor Gray Davis checked his Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse chokechain marks in the mirror, but did nothing else.

A reputable news source reported that Clinton cronie George Frampton, supposedly chairman of some weenie presidential council on environmental quality, claimed that sixty meetings were held, including a couple of public hearings. The problem with this spinmeister baloney is that no meeting was held with people from any of the local areas effected!

This disgusting president is a disgraceful excuse for a human being; building his faux legacy on the backs of homeless United States citizens, he himself made that way. History will judge Bill Clinton as the most corrupt president in history!
