Millennium Man?

The world's most important people were...

The Man of The Millennium is Johanes Gutenburg.

In the early 1400s, Johanes Gutenburg is credited with the invention of the movable type printing press. This break through allowed the human specis to begin to mass produce documents and keep records. It encouraged more people to become literate and simplified standards of education through mutually accepted benchmarks, in universally printed textbooks. Eventually, through this invention the world media was born, the personification of which was the creation of large circulation newspapers utilizing the printing press for high volume releases.

Someone may argue that the internet, atomic power or the computer revolution may be more important in our quickly ending millennium, but I believe it all started with Gutenburg's machine!

The Man of The Century is Neil Armstrong.

Neil Armstrong was the first human being ( of our current incarnation? ) to set foot on a celestial body other than the Earth, our Moon. His truely historical and monumental feat was repeated by other astronauts, but he will always be remembered as the very first. Nobody will ever forget the words, " ONE SMALL STEP FOR MAN. ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND ". Like Alan Shepard, the first American into outer space, before him; Neil Armstrong truely has " The Right Stuff ".
