I pity the guy with the boat, who got busted with guns, in Mexico.
It wouldn't have happened, if he knew these two facts, and followed them.
1) It is against Mexican law for non-military or police ( the public ) to have firearms that chamber the same caliber as their police and military. It may sound stupid, but it is their LAW. When I was there frequently, decades ago, those calibers were 45ACP and 30-06. I suppose this could change with time ( the calibers ).
2) When going to the harbormaster in a Mexican port, a 100 dollar bill must be folded with your ship's papers. This may sound like a bribe, but it is Mexican CUSTOM. This too could change with time ( the amount ? ).
I don't know for sure whether or not this is the case, with the recent problem that a ship owner had in Mexico ( I am not including his information on purpose ). I experienced the above two problems, first hand, but I was found to be in conformity ( different calibers and 100 dollar bill attached to papers ).
