Nine out of ten media folks voted Democrat in the last two elections ( okay, just eighty-nine percent in the last one ), so it is not a surprize that the majority of mainstream media outlets coddle the liberal Democrat President Bill Clinton. Only when the negative information is too widespread to ignore, will they report a story likely to cause Clinton any grief. Even in times like those, they will gladly absorb and regurgitate at will, their learned Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse spinmeister lines of misleading non-truths ( blatant lies? ) concerning those facts, they so begrudgingly had to disclose. The Clinton/Gore War against the tiny sovereign country of The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was their first chance to take a really active part in helping the forces of Clinton ( evil? ) complete it's " Wag The Dog " routine.
First you have the complete villification of the more civilized Serbs, over the extreme Albanian sponsored terrorist Kosovo Liberation Army ( UCK ) separatists. The Serbs and Slobodan Milosevic have been wrongly characterized with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Germans from World War II. It is a historical fact that the Albanians sided with Mussolini and were fascists in World War II, striving to kill all the Serbs in Kosovo to create Greater Albania in it's place. They were unsuccessful in 1941, even though they had the help of the Muslims and Croats who formed at least two volunteer genocidal Nazi SS divisions to murder Serbs along side with their Nazi brothers from Berlin. Second, as soon as NATO began leveling Yugoslavia with semi-anonymous bombing from high altitude and the refugees started streaming out of Kosovo, the media gladly explained away the refugee problem as being caused by vicious Serbs and not the aircraft blowing up everything from bridges to water pumping stations and whole residential blocks. This defies reality. Even if you choose to believe the Serbs were driving out the Albanian separatists and this caused many civilians to flee, you must concede that the overwhelming flood of humanity didn't start until the NATO bombing campaign did!
Third, every time NATO bombed a civilian target in Yugoslavia, whether it be intentional or not, the media was quick to spew the White House line of Serb atrocity. This got incredibly ludicrous, as when an ethnic Albanian refugee convoy was hit, it was reported that at first it didn't happen and the Serbs staged the whole thing. Then, when NATO finally admitted they did it, it became the Serbs adding to the carnage? Man this stinks. None of the American media was immune to this. Only the Associated Press got it right, and most folks don't have that printed in their morning paper or programmed into the old VCR.
It got worse as the bombing entered it's second month. Clinton had miscalculated the resolve of the Serbs and Milosevic, so he changed the target list to the civilian power grid, factories and infrastructure. The American media helped him along with this, never saying a word about the targetting of wholely civilian locations that the Pentagon was told to characterize as dual-use. Dual-use my ass. Milosevic's civilian residence was even a target. Ask yourself this; would you consider the Presidential retreat at Camp David or the White House a military target? Well, the American media obviously does!
Towards the end, it was even the International War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague, ignoring the much greater and more clearly provable NATO atrocities, indicting the leadership of Yugoslavia for war crimes. Can you believe that? The Yugoslavians are engaged in a civil war against an Albanian terrorist army which is willing to kill innocent Serb civilians by the plowed field graveyard full and ambush official Kosovar Police Units in the most cold blooded manner, and these murders are portrayed as heroic freedom fighters? Shame on the American media.
Belgrade finally signs on the dotted line, after being subjected to a bombing of it's civilian population only equalled by the Allied bombing of Dresden ( I know this is a gross exaggeration, but the liberals keep comparing the hadnful killed by Serbs to the millions killed by the Nazis, including their Albanian and Muslim volunteer friends ) during World War II, and the NATO ground forces start to roll into Kosovo. Now comes the American media's finest hour, the spinning of the KLA atrocities that were about to finally be exposed. But no, that unarmed Serb killed by the KLA deserved to be killed because the Muslims have been given the right to kill Orthodox Serbs for media points. Okay, so maybe I am a little bit cynical, but the media swallowed and reported every Albanian refugee's story of a Serb atrocity like it was actually true, and they are finally starting to find out that it has been the ethnic Albanians, especially the KLA ( UCK ) who rob, torture and murder with shear delight! Even FOX network showed an Albanian service building in Kosovo with a torture chamber-like dungeon, complete with devices, and called it a SERB TORTURE CHAMBER. Man I was disgusted. The first time I saw the room and the piles of Serb military and police uniforms, I asked myself what would those be doing in a Serb torture chamber? The answer was that this was actually a KLA torture chamber and everybody knew it beforehand! The Associated Press simply reported it as a possible torture chamber in an ex-Albanian building, FOX was the only other outlet I saw even reference the Albanians and the building. The American media had a total lack of integrity, and they reported the story exactly the way the White House wanted it done, whether it be proven false in the near future or not. Clinton just can't have his chances at buying The Nobel Peace Prize with the blood of innocent Serb women and children, complicated by exposing the monsterous genocidal murderous nature of his KLA ( on the White House terrorist list until just a little over a year ago ) drug dealer buddies.
Lastly for now, sadly, yesterday, the first two NATO peacekeepers were killed ( I guess they still don't count the crews of the two Apache helicopters that were killed in the Balkans ). Lucky for the British, these two were Gurkhas and not, white, starched stiff-necked, riding crop types like Michael Jackson. Unlucky for the Kosovars, two civilians were killed along with them, by an exploding, un-exploded NATO cluster bomblet. To FOX's credit, when that network first ran the story as an insert text headline, they reported it as an unexploded piece of NATO ordnance. Well, I don't remember if they softened on that position or not, but all the other print, radio and television media outlets were reporting " Serb booby trap ". Yes folks, they were just salivating and chomping at the bit to say anything negative about the Clinton/DNC/NATO/Whitehouse spinmeister villified Serb enemies of all who are civilized. Not wanting to admitt their mistake, the Serb booby trap lie was only downgraded to a " Serb landmine ", I suppose to make it more impersonal. Well, the Associated Press got it right the first time, along with the FOX network, initially. Today, a full two days after the intial correct reporting by the pitiful few, the knee-jerk extreme left wing American media finally admitted it was a NATO cluster bomb, and a case of friendly fire, so to speak, that killed the four victims. I blame their deaths on Bill Clinton, as well as the deaths of all the Yugoslavians, be they Albanian or Serb, since he ordered his NATO butchers to attack in March!
Forget the " aspirin factory/chemical weapons factory " in Sudan; it was small potato(e)s...maybe the trial-run for Kosovo?
