Louis Freeh is an honorable man and a breath of fresh air in Washington. I guess that if you are not worried about getting elected, you don't have to sacrifice your morals for votes. He doesn't get involved with partisan politics. He has attempted to be the best Federal Bureau of Investigation Director in history. History will prove him to have both integrity and honesty.
Why does Janet Reno brush him off so easily? He has offered up his view concerning the campaign finance abuse investigation and the need for the appointment of an independant counsel. Reno rebuffs him and ignores it. This refusal makes light of Louis Freeh's position. FBI Directors are appointed for 10 years in order to stop the " politicization " of the office!
Desarno and LaBella, heads of their respective campaign finance investigations in DOJ and the FBI, have both privately and publicly urged Reno to appoint an independant counsel. She rebuffs these career investigators as well, and they are not appointees.
Reno is obviously acting with DNC political interests in mind and not her position as Attorney General. This is not a banana republic. We are supposed to be a free and open society making an example for the world. Reno's act of ignoring the advice of her subordinates ( especially Freeh ) makes us look like a cheap dictatorship.
Under direct questioning, Freeh testified that the facts lead to the highest office in the land, the President and Vice President themselves. Without pre-judging any criminal case, it truely is an actual conflict of interest for the politically appointed Reno to investigate her own administration! This smells, and the stench is strong enough for the entire world to get a whiff.
Reno's continued stonewalling in deference to the the facts has reduced jurisprudence in this country to that of the Tijuana Police Department. Stand fast Louis, we herald your courage and commitment to the truth. She may be able to diminish the importance of the Director of the FBI, but not your personal integrity!
