Release The Hounds!

It's Sunday, and the pack is loose!

Paul Begala, the Whitehouse spinmeister and chief, was the lead dog, as the Democrat dog pound opened it's doors on free-for-all Sunday!

Begala preached the Whitehouse talking points about imagined Republican partisanship, in a typically partisan Democrat manner. He said that the Republicans single-handedly killed all the legislation that the people wanted, from tobacco to the patient's bill of rights. Looking rather tired and haggard, he didn't adopt the usual scowling, intense expressions of hatred that usually accompany his criticisms of everything non-DNC ( or recently, non-pro-Clinton ). He said, " Bill Clinton has helped to rescue this party " ( are we sure that he wasn't thinking back to some Dan Lassiter affair on an airborne 707? ). He also said that the Republican, " 500 dollar tax credit was Al Gore's idea "? How can he try to give Gore, credit for a Republican passed tax relief item, and keep a straight face? He did tell the truth when he said this one, though; " Labor is a good friend to the Democratic Party ". Yes, those corrupt labor unions keep the cash flowing into DNC coffers!

Jim Nicholson, Paul's opposite number on one political television show, looked rested and was coolly civil. He ignored the chances to get partisan, but did point out that Clinton vetoed welfare reform a number of times, before its final passage. He did list some of the Republican legislation that was passed in the last Congress: welfare reform, IRS reform, and some tax relief.

Dan Quayle listed his three most important issues for Republicans as: tax cuts, smaller government and strengthening the family. When questioned about the current Presidential impeachment problem and Clinton's seemingly good approval rating in the polls, he replied that he " doesn't buy the polls, the poll will be November 3rd ". He also added, " The day of reckoning for Bill Clinton is coming ", and " perjury is an impeachable offense ".

Rahm Emanuel was also unleashed on the Sunday morning television viewers. He first attacked the Republicans with a standard Whitehouse spin line, " A Congress that wants to investigate and not legislate ". This next one was a really good example of how morally bankrupt he and other Democrats have finally become, in their defense of the First Philanderer. " I have a great admiration for this President, and for what he has done. Not just in service of the country, I see him also as a father, and what he has done as a father. And I have a great deal of admiration for him as a person, and what he has done ". Does Rahm really think that Clinton has been a good father figure? It sure seems like that is what he is saying here. Like, just what would he think was a bad father figure? Dad as an adulterer and liar, just can't send the correct message for future fathers; unless the message is, ' dad is king of the castle '?

Carol Moseley-Braun was asked by Sam Donaldson three times concerning admissions of mistakes she made in her cuurent campaign ads. Finally, after attacking her opponent and Republicans twice, Sam asked the question of ' what these mistakes mentioned in the campaign ad were ' for a third time. She sheepishly admitted that they revolved around 3 trips she took to Africa and 2 trips to Nigeria. I don't know any of the details, but why was she so determined to evade addressing them at all?

There was not a great deal of mud slinging this Sunday, but I would still characterize the Democrats as being head and shoulders above the Republicans in the partisan department!
