The stench in Southern California was reaching gasmask levels as a flood of raw sewage spilled into a Van Nuys neighborhood. Van Nuys is a suburb and now an official portion of the City of Los Angeles. To some, this foul smelling sludge was perfume, in comparison to what the extreme left-wing liberal Democrat governor and Democrat controlled state houses have been doing to the rights of the people this year.
The newly elected Democrat governor, Gray Davis, decided that he knows what's best for the citizens of California, no matter what they say in voting on state ballot propositions. The people spoke on such items of interest as Affirmative Action programs in the state-run universities and giving Welfare benefits to illegal aliens from Mexico. In both of those cases, the people voted not discontinue the failed or offensive programs. Well, Davis decided he would over-rule the judgement of a substantial majority of Californians who voted not to discriminate in favor of minorities pertaining to their skin color or national origin, etc., by blocking the implimentation of the latest proposition, Proposition 187. Earlier, when a conservative was governor, Pete Wilson, the knee-jerkers relied on the old commie judges to overturn the will of the people through " judicial review " ( what a cruel joke that is )!
In the San Fernando Valley, Woodley Park filled with raw sewage coming up out of a manhole. The potentially smelly and unhealthful brew was expelled from a sewage treatment plant that was undergoing a Y2K test. Evidently, when they shut off the power and back-up generators cut in, a floodgate remained closed, causing the disgusting fluids to spew out of the drains. City of Los Angeles Public Works Department spokewoman, Linda Aparicio, said, " Our computers did not tell us that gate was closed, " and, " No one knew that sewage was backing up ". Maybe the computers didn't speak Spanish?
The radical left has attacked the Second Amendment by banning gun type after gun type, collecting a list of gun owners under the auspices of a registration list, that they are using at this very moment to confiscate some version of the cheap Soviet Bloc SKS semi-automatic carbine. This really stinks to high heaven, as it only serves as a wake-up call that the gun control lobby truely will never rest until all guns are out of the hands of the law abiding common folk ( and only in the hands of the criminals ).
In the heighth of hypocrisy, the senior United States Senator from California, Dianne Feinstein, a champion of the vaunted anti-gun lobbyists and someone who has never met a firearm she didn't want to ban, is herself the holder of a concealed carry permit in California for a number of handgun(s)! Do you get it yet? She wants to ban handguns but carries one on her person, herself, for protection. In this case, what is good for the goose, is not necessarily good for the gander!
Personally, I believe that raw sewage smells better than the Democrat leadership of California. At least when the sewage backed up, they could clean it up and it was gone. In the case of the lying Democrats, they keep vomitting their bile all over the unsuspecting citizens of California, and as soon as they get cleaned up, another round of liberal sewage dirties them again!
