The current inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is at it again. In an attempt to recover or create some kind of a legacy for himself in the history books, beside being a self-admitted liar and philanderer, he has undone the work President Ronald Reagan did, when he brought down the Berlin wall and won the Cold War. Bill Clinton has lied and spinmeistered his way to alienating and polarizing Russia and doing the con-job of the Century on NATO. NATO's altruistic charter of mutual defense has been replaced with doing the bidding of the great living God, Pharoah Bill Clinton. Now that Clinton has been exonerated by the United States Senate of all removable offenses; he is free to vent his anger unfettered and let the unbridled raw power of the Presidency of The United States go to his head, as much as his simple despot brain can carry him.
Enter the Slickster to a NATO press briefing on the military action in Kosovo, on Saturday April 24th. He was feeling exceptionally happy it seems, as the night before his airforces had managed to kill a pile of civilians and take out one channel of Serbian controlled television in Belgrade. He was also feeling quite upbeat, as he was surrounded by his very own dogshow, of the trained NATO variety. It was the fiftieth anniversary of the NATO Kennel Club, and each and every one of the member countries was eager to prove they had done their obedience trials better than the other. Willie wasn't to be disappointed.
Anyhow, the liar-in-chief bit his lip and pounded the podium, through a series of falsehoods, misleading statements, and fogging of the issue type answers, that would have made Pinnochio proud. He began with a clear pump for NATO with, " We send a clear message of unity ". After a few minutes of the typical bite and pound ( or was it pound and bite? ) routine, the first philander finally graced the press corpse by feinting to answer some questions.
I was amazed, as Wolf Schnauzer actually asked the Slickmeister why he had NATO bombing obviously civilian targets, like the Serbian television studio/building in Belgrade. Willie was ready for this one and offered up his rehearsed answer designed to downplay and not even mention the dozens of innocent civilians killed and/or wounded in the attack, " He uses it to spew hatred and spread disinformation, not to show the villages he's burned ". Oh man, this megalomaniac bombs the television channels he doesn't like and everyone swallows that as a military target? Where is the press? This is the stuff war crimes are really made of!
When the Pharoah Bill Clinton was asked how much longer his unholy forces of injustice from above would continue bombing the helpless civilian population of Yugoslavia, the living God graciously answered that his private army ( NATO ) would continue the bombing indefinately, to " break his military capacity or the price of staying there ( Kosovo ) will exceed the perceived benefits " to Milosevic. He declared loudly that NATO will " execute the air campaign ". He began to beat his fist on the podium in a Hitler-like manner, after receiving a question about why a month of bombing has shown absolutely no positive results ( send more refugees? ); saying that " everybody in the alliance agrees. We have not weakened our position ". He continued, beating the podium for rhythm, with his final admission to the ' autonomy for Kosovo ' lie with, " we must move toward self-government for the Kosovars ". He never had any intention of letting Kosovo remain within the sovereign state of Yugoslavia.
It really is sad that Clinton brought lying to the people up to a new level of acceptance. Everything in Washington, for the Democrats at least, has become a fingers-crossed " lie, deny and stick to it " operation. What is truely disturbing is that Clinton has brought this same twisting of the truth type spinmeistering to the reporting of fact or policy at all levels of the Federal government. Hopefully, this cancer will be excised after his administration finally leaves office!
