Though the chances of President Bill Clinton being removed from office by the United States Senate are slim and none, I believe the process should be allowed to go forward with dignity. I was hoping that Senators would act in a more civil manner than Representitives, but the chances of that happening are looking rather small. Possibly the sadest thing to come out of this impeachment process is the allied coalition between the Clinton Whitehouse, the DNC, the hedonistic Hollywood ultra-rich elite and the pornographic publication, Hustler magazine. The Democrats have shown the depths of depravity to which they will sink, and this may include Democrat Senators as well!
Clinton on the one hand publicly speaks about stopping the mud slinging, but then privately choreographs new attacks on the personal lives of his perceived enemies. His strategy all along has been to lie to the public, and do the opposite privately. Mary Matalin addressed this issue on ' Eat The Depressed ', when she brought up Clinton's " two pronged strategy " to say one thing and do another. If this is allowed to continue, it will spell the defeat of honesty and decency in our country as a whole. To allow a disgusting smut monger like Larry Flynt to have any influence on our nation's government, is truely a disgrace to the Founding Fathers! Just me mentioning him here, is rather disturbing. While Flynt gloats, James Carville still attacks Republicans with, " You ignore American elections at your peril...", filling in several Republican names and repeating the phrase over and over again. Why does Tim Russert give this creep Carville any airtime? Carville continued with his mud slinging, by trying to shift the blame of these attacks of the hedonistic Hollywood establishment on the moral decency of our country on the Republicans, by saying " Tom DeLay and Henry Hyde gave Larry Flynt the power he has " in Washington. This is sick man, really sick. Now I am no prude, but this alignment between the Whitehouse and the forces of sexual perversion will eventually lead to a complete collapse of the family system. This can only increase violence and barbarism in the youth of today ( our country's future ).
The dictatorship of this Whitehouse must end. Like some incredible physical manifestation of the movie " Wild in The Streets ", the President has sided with the forces of excess and anarchy. The only penalty that Bill Clinton will pay for his lies and other misdeeds, is the stain of IMPEACHMENT on his record in the history books ( he wouldn't even have had this, if not for his stain on Monica Lewinsky's blue dress ).
Knowing there is absolutely no chance of a vote in the Senate for his removal from office, " The Clinton " will continue to attack the decent people in our government, until we are left only with mindless " party above all else " robots. If the words of Democrat Senators are any indication, our nation is doomed to decay into a dictatorship with the legislators of the President's party blindly acting like a rubber stamp for his actions ( whether they be legal or illegal, moral or immoral, or destructive or constructive ). The Founding Fathers did not create the office of the presidency to be a dictator, but that is what it has become. The Executive Branch of government has swelled in size and power under Clinton, and this is by design a very unhealthy thing to the three branches of government concept, the Founders created 200 years ago! Representitives like J.C. Watts may be our only chance at survival. We need non-partisan people of high moral character in government, to turn around the trend toward moral relativism and unfettered hedonism!
On various talk shows this Sunday, the day after impeachment, some Senators illustrated my above points. The question of the impartiality of Republican Senators seems not to be in question, but the Democrat Senators may prove to be lap dogs of the Clinton/DNC conspiracy of immorality and indecency. The final proof will only be in the ultimate disposition of Clinton's trial in the Senate. One thing I know for sure, is that the American people will get to see which Senators are men of conviction and which are mice! Here is a preliminary list of Senators who began to telegraph whether they are two legged or four legged mamals.
MEN.
Orrin Hatch ( R ), " As we sit here today, there are not 67 votes for impeachment ". Joseph Lieberman ( D ), " It's much too early to rush to judgement ". Mitch McConnell ( R ), said we should go forward and conduct a trial, " This will not be a spectacle ". Arlen Specter ( R ), " It does have to go to trial ". Richard Shelby ( R ) on attacks on Iraq, " The President's timing was suspect ". Kay Bailley Hutchinson ( R ), " Differentiate between censure before impeachment and after ".
MICE.
Chris Dodd ( D ), " There is some question whether the facts Henry Hyde submitted should be admitted to ". Patrick Leahy ( D ), " I don't believe the President will be convicted ". Robert Torricelli ( D ), " He knows he is not going to be removed from office at the end of the day ". Dianne Feinstein ( D ), " The President has been impeached, that's a penalty ". John Breaux ( D ), on not needing to have a trial, " Will a trial give us any more information that we need to know?"
Notice the difference between the MICE and MEN? The men are not passing judgement until they begin a Senate proceeding, and the mice are just following Clinton's orders! It is okay if the Senate finally exhonerates Clinton, but to do so before going through the Constitutional motions, just breeds the appearence of political partisanship over justice. Retired Republican Senator Howard Baker said the trial should go on and the Senators should vote either way. I believe he is correct, and I want to see for myself how each individual Senator votes on the matter!
I didn't want to dignify Clinton's phoney ' wag the dog ' attacks on Iraq with a mention, but it was a topic of the Sunday spinmeisters. Secretary of Defense William Cohen and General Henry Shelton made the rounds on a few talk shows, defending the results of the strikes. Sadly, I only saw pictures of destroyed buildings. Somehow trading million dollar cruises missiles for empty buildings just doesn't sound logical to me. Also, these attacks have left us only with satellite photography to monitor Iraqi weapons building progress. I believe Scott Ritter was right about Saddam having ample time to move his weapons before the strikes started!
Just the fact that guys like Carville and Flynt are getting so much airtime, indicates how far into the dumpster our society has sunken. The Time magazine men ( not man ) of the year are Kenneth Starr and Bill Clinton. Sad, but predictable from a rag that declared Adolph Hitler man of the year about 60 years ago!
