In a vain attempt to ' wag the dog ' in the Mideast, Clinton could only ' wag ' himself. Looking to score emotional media photo opportunity points in Gaza and Israel; the only emotion he could find, was disdain for his own condescending selfish attempts to turn Israeli blood into American media headlines.

Evidently, Clinton really put his foot in his mouth, in comparing the children of Palestinian murders to the children of innocent slain Isrealis. Reportedly, Netanyahu had this to say about Clinton's moral relativism ( It feels strange, using the words ' Clinton ' and ' moral ' in the same sentence ). " There's a world of difference between the children of the murderers who are in jail and the children of those who are murdered. These murderers, some of them murdered children. The last thing we should do is make any parallelism between the murderers and their victims ". Israeli newspapers carried headlines like this Monday morning, " Rage in Israel: President Compares Victims of Terror to Palestinian Prisoners ". I applaud Netanyahu for not falling into Clinton's ' wag the dog ' charade, and for making his opinion loudly public. Clinton must now realize that his phoney empathy does not play well in a country filled with people who are accustomed to feeling pain!

The crux of this matter, is the Palestinian demand for Israel to release jailed terrorists convicted of murdering innocent Israelis, both civilian and military. The terrorist leader, Yasser " Yes sir " Arafat claims they are political prisoners. Israel has released 250 of a promised 750 prisoners, but refuses to release those convicted of capital crimes. " I don't release terrorist murderers. I don't care what their views are. They're not in there for their political views. They're in jail because they murdered people '', Netanyahu said.

Clinton tried to create some religious sympathy by kneeling in a groto in Bethlehem. He has been soliciting the help of compliant clerics in his defense back here in America, but the chance to act reverant in the " holy land " was not one he could resist. This event with Arafat and family, just seems to be more scripted activity, and not real reverance. It sort of made me think back to the staged " pebbles " incident at the Normandy beach ceremony a few years ago.

Clinton failed to convince Netanyahu to resume Israeli troop withdrawls from the West Bank or to release any more convicted Palestinian terrorist murders from Isreali jails. Netanyahu will just not cave in to any more of Clinton's phoney " lies for peace ". He now realizes Clinton's only concern is for media headlines, after the failed Wye interim peace accord lies. World leaders are finally getting the message, that Clinton can't be trusted

" I have achieved what I came here to achieve ", Clinton said at a news conference, after a last ditch effort at negotiation between Arafat and Netanyahu, at a border outpost near the West Bank. I believe, in this case, Clinton told the truth. His only intention was to get the Palestinian National Council media photo opportunity, as they went through the choreographed charade of renouncing ' the death to Israel ' portions of it's charter. Luckily, the majority of the media realized this for what it actually was!

Having failed to drum up any media headlines to over shadow the impeachment debate in the Mideast, the Whitehouse is now desperately searching for a new place to find some. Ossama Bin Laden's name has once again surfaced, along with warnings of possible bombings. Richard Butler is to make a report to the UN on Iraqi compliance with weapons inspections. Richard Holbrooke is in Serbia trying to revive the peace talks amongst renewed violence. Hold on to your hats, as the spin cycle will be hot and heavy!
