Retired New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley tries to interrupt the ascension of the Clinton/Gore Dynasty, by attempting to defeat the heir apparent, Vice President Al Gore, in the Democratic Party nomination for it's candidacy for President of the United States, in the year 2000 election. Not many people give Bradley more than a ghost of a chance to defeat Al Gore in the primaries, but like a New York Knicks NBA basketball game, the contest is not over until the final horn sounds!
Bradley knows how to be a winner; having been elected Senator and in winning the NBA title with the Knicks, during his tenure there in the 70s. Bradley was not a flashy player, but a thinking man's forward. " Dollar Bill ", as he was affectionately called in his NBA days, is way too liberal for my tastes, but is a head and shoulders above Gore in the honesty category ( possibly in the height category as well? ). As possible presidential candidates go, I prefer the more conservative picks of the litter: Play it again, Sam. ( 8-23-98 ) and/or Alan Keyes extra. ( 9-15-98 ), without regard to party affiliation.
Bradley has raised almost a dozen million dollars at this point ( 11.5 million according to AP ), early in the campaign, as opposed to Gore's total of just short of twenty million ( 18.2 according to AP ). Todays endorsement of Bradley by the Nebraska Senator, Robert Kerrey, should help him rake in some more monetary support, to continue his run to the finals in Los Angeles next year. Maybe the ultra-liberal state of California, will herald the return of the Democrats to true liberalism, and not the phoney government by poll, that Clinton tries to pawn off on the country these days!
One thing is for sure; Bradley won't be dialing for dollars from a government office while on the taxpayer's time clock, or holding any fundraisers at Buddhist temples. Kerrey described Bradley with, " Bill has the vision to challenge America to greatness and the integrity to restore the nation's faith in our public institutions ". I believe just about anyone who doesn't have the last name, Clinton, would be welcomed by the DNC mainstream ( the diehard socialists and Clinton cronies/donors won't be happy until there is a one world government, new world order in place ). Kerrey continued, " He has the steady hand and foresight necessary to be an effective commander in chief ". I bet Bradley would be quite a bit more careful how and where to deploy the U.S. military; being only where our vital national interests are involved, and not the global policeman or the " Wag the Dog " phoney commander that Clinton has shown himself to be!
Not to be one who didn't return the favor, Bradley tooted Kerrey's horn a bit, saying, " Bob Kerrey is an American hero. He is a man with unquestioned conviction and stands out in the Senate as a courageous leader on issues that define our future ". Well, that is a bit mushy for my tastes, as I would ask; where was Kerrey while the Democrat Senators all voted in lock-step to exhonerate their precious first philanderer in the Senate impeachment trial of King Clinton?
Minnesota Senator Paul Wellstone, is the only other Democrat senator who has endorsed Bradley.
While the Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse spinmeisters continue their bogus media campaign, declaring the Republican primary system a coronation for Governor George Bush of Texas; the real regal torch, is that one being passed to Al Gore, from the Clintons. I see many more Republican candidates giving Bush a run than the single Democrat voice of Bill Bradley, heroically trying to buck the Arkansas political machine that Clinton has installed in Washington D.C., over the last seven years!
