With the vast majority of House Republicans offering up objective non-partisan plans for an orderly and civil proceeding, a few vocal partisan Democrats are trying to ignite a fervor of partisanship in the House, the public and the media!
First, you must understand that 2/3s of House Democrats voted to release the OIC Clinton Impeachment referral to the public, after careful examination to redact irrelevant and personal information. The Democrats on the Judiciary Committee almost all voted against the measure, so they may not be as non-partisan as the full House. They have an agenda of their own; TO STIR UP TROUBLE!
We have seen John Conyers whine about the committee going to fast, and Richard Gephardt urging expediency. Well, which one is it? Is this a real difference in how Democrats feel, or a concoction to insert some derision of the process?
The entire House Black Caucus seems to be united in acting as Clinton defense lawyers, and not doing their Constitutional duty of examining the facts and making a decision. Maybe, Maxine Waters and the " fairness cops " should look at their own conduct. Will Conyers and Waters explode emotionally and disrupt the committee, once it's proceedings are being televised live?
We have all seen Barney Frank disrupt committees with " attack the messenger " and " change the subject " diversions. Will the Democrats put a leash on him, or allow him to pull his clown act? I can already see him using up his time, trashing Republicans who may have had some sexual improprieties in their past, instead of looking into the current problem!
Will the Democrats waste their committee time with tirades against Republicans, or use it in a legitimate search for the truth? Anyone who watched C-Span during House Whitewater or Campaign Finance committee hearings, will remember just how much time was wasted by the Democrats, in attacking and not investigating.
I certainly hope that House Democrats will not allow the partisan few from the Judiciary Committee, to spoil any chance of having fair and non-partisan proceedings in this incredibly important matter.
Chairman Henry Hyde has a hard job ahead, in riding herd over these potentially explosive proceedings!
