With NATO announcing a bombing cycle equal to the now 24 hour ' NEWS ' cycle, maybe the heat will be a little less hot for the F-117 pilots. Yeah, right. While our military knocks themselves out, proving how they can kill people and blow things up with the best of history's armies, the mostly liberal Democrat politicians just can't seem to weasle their way out of a hopeless situation of their own making!
Madeleine Albright, Secretary of State ( sadly ), continues to conduct the war in Yugosalvia as if it was a television show trying to glean the highest ratings. With each new contrived media image of Albanian refugees or Serbian atrocities ( including videotape footage with snow still on the ground interspersed with other shots having flowers? ), the Clinton spinmeister machine rumbles it's way toward the Nobel Peace Prize, like some poorly editted old war movie using cheesy stock footage! Sorry, I wasn't born yesterday. It makes the images hard to believe, when each and every one of them reaks of being a poor old heavily used stereotype or cliche'.
James Rubin, State Department Spokesman, can only say " Milosevic's forces are going to pay a heavy price ", when asked what the NATO airstrikes are doing to save ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. Didn't he mean to say that the American taxpayer was paying a heavy price in dollars for the destroyed aircraft and expensive precision guided ordnance expended ( did you hear the airforce was running low on ALCMs? ). The other mantra of the day was " keep your hands off Montenegro ", as they continue to reach for new emotional tools for use, to wag the international dog. These press conferences are badly choreographed affairs, seemingly based on ' campaign trail-like ' damage control sessions! This Clinton administration really has no clue how to handle foreign policy and now it has managed to infect NATO with it's cancer! This poorly designed strategy is only widdening the gulf between the old Iron Curtain countries and the Western ones.
After this week of bombing, neither the Albanians, nor the Serbs, have gotten any closer to solving their mutual problem. What has happened, is their problem has been compounded by the addition of our problem, Bill Clinton's lust to clean up his heavily tarnished image and buy the Nobel Peace Prize. This bombing has only increased the bad blood between the parties. No Albanian in his right mind would want to take the chance and move back in next door to some Serbs. On the other hand, no Serb would turn his back on an armed Albanian, after they burnt down his village or murdered his relatives. With every bomb dropped and every Yugoslavian citizen killed, the schism between the parties is only growing, as Clinton lets the bombing continue!
Sorry, this new " Mr. Policeman " image for NATO just does not work. NATO was always a defensive alliance; it is just not the United Nations. NATO ( and Clinton ) may now be finally realizing the folly of their actions in trying to insert their influence into the internal territory of a sovereign nation ( Yugoslavia ). The Albanians in Kosovo will all be killed or expatriated, before the bombing causes enough damage to even begin to make the Serbs think about knuckling under. Clinton will never admit defeat, but NATO cannot afford to allow him to use and abuse their alliance to the point of making it ineffectual! This " Clinton Debacle " is on the verge of turning into a NATO debacle, and from there, who knows!
To their credit, the hawkish right wing Republicans have backed the military, " target sight unseen ", and have offered little criticism of the inhabitant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, who just happens to be their commander in chief. It may become necessary for the more patriotic of these legislators, to finally speak up on the poorly camoflaged ' wag the dog ' actions of the President. Someone has to put a stop to the lunatics who have taken over the asylum known as the White House!
We won't forget that a major reason for this bombing, was to take the attention off the treasonous actions of the Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse cronies who sold us out to the communist Red Chinese for campaign cash! Remember, the Chris Cox report on Red China? Only fourteen out of fourteen hundred pages have been released! Well, grabbing the Nobel Peace Prize was always only the icing on the cake, in Bill Clinton's mind. Hopefully, as the President's poll numbers continue to take a dive, he will order the American forces attacking Yugoslavia to take a powder ( maybe he should ask Roger for some advice? ). Obviously, NATO is going to be left hanging out to dry, no matter what the final result is, in this one. Hey, don't complain; you knew the job was dangerous when you took it!
