It was not televised because it was a closed door hearing, where the public wasn't invited ( not that it matters much any more as C-Span has caved in to the Democrat controlled news media and almost completely quit covering any hearings which seem to be in the least bit duragatory to liberals at all; including the hearing this week with four whistle blowers from the nuclear laboratories ). Write Brian Lamb at, the used to be objective and cover everything, C-Span and ask him why they now air perpetual reruns of book reviews and the bus, over the weekends; instead of playing the public hearings that are so important to our nation's survival, as we go into the new millennium!
John Shelby ( R ), Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, held a closed door session with Sandy Berger, in order to get the truth on just exactly when he and the President were actually made aware ot the acquisition of sensitive top secret materials from our nuclear ( and associated ) laboratories by the People's Liberation Army from the People's Republic of China. Two Senators commented on the hearing and communist Red Chinese espionage and influence peddling.
Senator Fred Thompson ( R ), not in the hearing but privvy to the information, began with the rhetorical question and statement, " It's not a pretty picture, is it "? He concluded and opined, " We can't force an official to do the right thing ( obviously referring to Berger doing the old, ' lie, deny and stick to it ' routine becoming so familiar from Democrats lately ); the people have to do that at the ballot box ".
Senator Wayne Allard ( R ), who did attend the closed door hearing starring Sandy Berger, was willing to state some generalities gleaned from the hearing. He began, " At least the top advisors, before the 1996 election, knew what was going on at the labs ". Oh whether or not Berger told them the whole truth in the hearing and when which members of the Clinton administration knew what and when, he answered, " It's hard to prove ". And with a bit of prodding, he clarified, " Did we get straight answers? Maybe we did and maybe we didn't; only time will tell ". He said that he did " try to get on record, when he ( Berger ) first found out about the spying at Los Alamos ". He finished with a stern warning, " This could possibly be the largest case since the Rosenbergs ".
How's it feel to be kept almost completely in the dark on this important investigation, by the liberal biased news media?
