I have always referred to CNN as DNN, for Democratic News Network; as its blatant left-wing, liberal Democratic Party spin of just about every story is so obvious to all but the spinmeisters and apologists in the audience. They have proven me to be quite correct in my characterization by their airing of the Operation Tailwind story and woefully weak excuse for an apology. I am just glad that there are other outlets available that still try to report the news objectively and without any left or right leanings.
It shouldn't be too hard to realize that CNN, being owned by Ted Turner and " Hanoi Jane " Fonda; would hire the most left-wing personnel they could lay their hands on. We all remember Jane in Hanoi pictured sitting in a communist anti-aircraft gun ( sheesh, man, those guns killed our boys over there and she's sitting there with a smile on her face ). I believe Ted and especially Jane were whooping it up when they got the first outline of that sad CNN piece on Tailwind. The thought of this just makes me sick, but you know it's probably the case!
The CNN reporting of this completely unsubstantiated fiction as truth was the worst I have ever seen in my life and if it was an individual and not the government, they would be facing a giant lawsuit ( now here's a good case for some of those out-of-work lawyers ). But, beside their fictional story, they then release a retraction that still hints their story is correct? Come on guys, let's finally and completely own up to your mistake and make a real apology!
The Story.
In the story, they tried to act like they had some facts, but look at what they said about it...
"We presented the facts that we gathered," Smith said. "Let the people judge. This was a report on America's secret army. There is no documentation."
Now wait just a darn minute; no documentation? How could they write a story without any documentation? Only an incredible military-hating extreme left-winger would want to air an "important" story like this with nothing to substantiate it...remind you of someone?
The Retraction and CNN Response.
In CNN's retraction they only apologized for running the story with " insufficient evidence ". What a cruel joke; it's more like " no evidence " or " fabricated evidence ". Were they trying to stop any prosecution for possible criminal wrongs associated with the fiction they called fact? There would have been telltale signs of an operation such as this, like protective suit requisitions or decontamination of the various aircraft supposedly involved. Were the lefties at CNN just so excited about a chance to take a cheap shot at our military that they didn't think of working a little harder? Or, did they just want to pump the story out and not dig any deeper for fear of finding out they had a terrible fictional idea, instead of the story of their dreams? Some of their supposed " evidence " was gathered through hypnosis!
They didn't even seem to support their own " apology " or " retraction ". Does this sound like an apology or a retraction?
"That doesn't necessarily mean that the story isn't true," Abrams said in an interview on CNN. "But what it does mean, then, is that at this moment we simply do not have enough evidence, in my view, for any conclusion to be reached -- that the presidents have been lying to us for all these years and that what we've been told was just a pack of lies."
This sounds more like a real far left wacko making excuses for having to retract a fiction that he believed to be true... And how about this one:
But April Oliver and Jack Smith, the story's top producers, told The Associated Press on Thursday they still believed the story was accurate. Oliver and Smith told The AP they had been fired and were disheartened by the lack of support from CNN
They want support for cooking up the cruelest fabrication in the history of reporting? If that can be believed, then it supports my above contentions about CNN's hiring practices. Lastly, check this one out...
"These shadow warriors don't like us looking into their business and their dark spaces," Oliver said of the military special forces. "They're doing their best to make sure that no one else does. I'm not a single-minded, one-point-of-view producer. Check with anyone, and you'll find that's inaccurate. It's part of killing the messenger."
Who are these people trying to kid? I wasn't born yesterday. I really hope all the living GI's involved in Operation Tailwind get together and file a humungous lawsuit against CNN for defamation ( and you guys already know what I think about lawyers )!!!
The Consequences.
Once the genie is out of the bottle, you just can't put it back in. How many left-wing, Unabomber-loving, organizations are going to pick up these lies and keep them alive? Iraq already issued some cold words ( like I really care about what they think anyway ). It's one of the darkest days ever in " American " journalism.
