I believe the Democratic Party has a taken ugly turn since it elected Bill Clinton as president and then lost it's majorities in both houses of Congress. We won't talk about whether or not having the Republican majorities in Congress, was the reason why the budget was balanced. We also won't talk about how much the legislation ( tax hikes ) passed by the Democrats from 1992 to 1994 did to balance the budget, either. The disgraceful thing I have seen happen, is a direct result of the Democrats losing their precious majorities in the Congress, and the big lobby bucks associated with the chairmanships of the major committees. With the Democrats only controlling the executive branch, THE WHITE HOUSE BECAME THE CASH COW FOR THE DNC. The graft and corruption sunk deep into the bloating sponge of the Clinton appointed White House cronies, all clambering for their piece of the non-greedy 90s, as well as a bankrupt DNC in search of a multi-million dollar transfusion.
The big question is whether or not Al Gore represents a renewal of the Clinton legacy of quid pro quos, or a new " family " with the usual liberal tax and spend wealth reproportionment visions, but minus the hedonistic Hollywood fatcat sexual antics? Though Gore may have the perfect puppy posture, like a German Short-haired Pointer sitting at attention; I just can't get the image of Al Baby with the red clad Budhist monks, at a DNC sponsored fund raiser, out of my mind. I just can't seem to shake the remembrance of his " no controling legal authority " pseudo admission/denial press conference, concerning dialing for hard money dollars from the White House. His envirnomental policies favor kangaroo rats over people, and insects over industrialization! I am sorry Al, I just can't hang with this stuff; especially the one about how you planted and harvested tobacco, but now you are, politically correctly, anti-tobacco.
I'm outta' here, this is a Democrat coronation anyhow. Oh wait, there is one another donkey in this muletrain, sort of. Enter Senator " Dollar " Bill Bradley from New Jersey; now there is a good DNC fundraiser nick name for you! Normally, I don't pay too much attention to real raving lunatic liberals, like Teddy Kennedy in government ( or Leon Trotsky's ghost ) but I decided to give Bradley a chance, because I remembered him from the old NBA days, when it wasn't a contact sport like it is now ( like, wouldn't Dave DeBusschere make a good VPOTUS? ).
Bill Bradley was finally on a Sunday political talk show for a long enough interview, to voice his views on many subjects. While I didn't get any surprizes, his frankness to pontificate his liberal agenda, straight from his left wing liberal knee-cap.
First, he voted against Welfare Reform. That's right folks, the one where it is back to working for the money. He commented that " people were cut off ", after that measure was inacted.
Second, he is so George Orwell's 1984 into growing the federal government and having it control the people, instead of the other way around ( remember, government for the people, by the people ) that it makes me sick. He said that, " common sense gun control can be widely accepted ". Oh man, isn't this the first step to tyranny? No, this is: " I would ban Saturday night specials ". This is an excuse to ban cheaper handguns which are affordable to someone who needs personal protection. Criminals buy stolen guns, not necessarily cheap handguns. Collectors buy antique guns whose cost span from less than one hundred dollars to thousands. What would you do with those low cost antiques? Would you make the collector a criminal? The last thing on guns he said was, " I would do registration and licensing ". Besides starting the " Big Brother is watching you " list, I think Al smells a new government fee ot tax!
Third, and quite disturbing, he was asked about campaign finance reform. His response was a heavy support for " same day registration " and " vote by mail ". Oh man, can you say voter fraud? Yes, I thought you could. To his credit, he did say that he " asked them to accept the challenge of no soft money ".
Fourth, and most disgraceful was his admission that, " I am a strong backer of NAFTA...WTO ". If you don't know what these two are, or you agree with Bradley, check the number of American factories moving out of the United States. Like a good liberal, Bradley added, " I know it has hurt some people; they should be helped ". Here he goes, thinking government has all the answers ( form a commission, begin a study, take a poll...).
Lastly, he couldn't muster any criticism over his beloved DNC and it's complicity in the Red Chinese espionage scandal, only whimpering, " I think the espionage at Los Alamos was serious. Those responsible should be punished ". Though he did seem quite the Jimmy Carter-like hawk, with, " If China invaded, I would help Taiwan ". You know, I always figured Willie would let the commie rats do what ever they wanted with Taiwan!
Oh well, there seems to be rather slim pickings at the Democrat buffet, and the Democrats are having a coronation for their heir apparent, Al Gore ( only because Hillary's Whitewater involvement hasn't cooled off enough for her to run for president yet )!
On the other hand, I always figured bushes were good for drinking or burning and not good for electing? But maybe, that is just me?
