While the Pentagon dispatches ten more B-52 bombers to Europe, to bollster NATO's ( America's ) air armada arrayed against tiny Yugoslavia, chief NATO briefing liar, Jamie Shea, must explain why every day it seems like a new civilian location is destroyed. As Shea continues to downplay the murderous nature of NATO's illegal campaign of aerial ethnic cleansing against mostly civilian targets in the sovereign nation of Yugoslavia, the United States Secretary of Defense, William Cohen reveled in new destructive power of those ten additional BUFFs. " We will start to attack for more hours, more targets and from more directions ", Cohen told a news conference today. Aren't these two guys a real pair? Both can lie through their teeth with the best liars from history, with Shea playing the part of a dry-look Josef Goebbels and Cohen trying to do the Vietnam-era Robert MacNamara thing.
Shea has never sufficiently explained why NATO is bombing wholely civilian targets in Yugoslavia, like bridges, power stations, non-military factories and television studios. I believe he should be held responsible at the Hague, for these hidoues scenes of massive civilian losses of life, inflicted on a helpless Yugoslavia by the terrorist NATO bombers, as he is the one sent to rationalize their undeclared killing spree to the rest of the world.
Lucky for Shea, today he was only explaining why a NATO sponsored missile hit a supposedly empty civilian residence in Bulgaria. This was the third time this month that a NATO missile landed in Bulgaria; today's free surprise was an AGM-88 HARM ( High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile ) used to home in on Yugoslavian radar sets. Evidently, the Serb operating the radar was smarter than the missile, as he turned off the radar before the missile had a chance to find it's mark. The missile reportedly fell near the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, which is approximately thirty miles east of the Yugoslavian border. Shea said a NATO aircraft launched the missile " in self defense in response to the threat from a surface-to-air missile "? Now that is a stretch, even for a blatant spinmeister and NATO propaganda liar like Shea. He continued his smirking description with, " the missile strayed from its target and unintentionally landed in Bulgaria. We understand that no civilians suffered a loss of life from what happened there ". This must have been a welcome change for Shea, who of late has been called on to rationalize and sometimes glorify NATO attacks on such high value civilian Yugoslavian targets as: high-rise buildings in downtown Belgrade, the state run television station in Belgrade, all the bridges over the Danube river and supposed mistakes like helpless civilian filled: passenger trains, refugee convoys and the ever popular residential district!
White House Press Secretary, Joe Lockhart, another experienced spinmeister and blatant purveyor of in your face direct falsehoods, got a chance to spin his evil yarn, in rationalization of why the House of Representitives voted to require Clinton to get permission from Congress before introducing ground troops into Yugoslavia and they refused to rubber stamp his illegal conspiracy of death from the skies with NATO. Lockhart spun hot and heavy with, " I don't think this was a clear message in any way, shape or form. There is a very high priority in staying with this and sticking with this ". He is very good at doing the old ' lie, deny and stick to it ' routine, but it just doesn't work in this case.
Not to miss a chance to cry sour grapes, House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt ( D ), called the House votes " a low moment in American foreign policy and in the history of this institution ". That is Democrat-speak for " I didn't get what I wanted ". Gephardt is a leftie of no conscience what so ever, and he blindly tows the Clinton/DNC/Whitehouse line like a tow-truck driver from hell.
The Speaker of The House, Dennis Hastert ( R ) said, " I would hope that the president would take this diverse debate as a signal that he should better explain the goals, the costs and the long-term strategy of why we are there ". There is little chance of Clinton paying any attention to Hastert at all. This is quite obviously demonstrated by the timing of Clinton ordering up those ten additional B-52 heavy bombers for the Clinton/Gore War.
After the obvious vote of no confidence by the Congress, my question is, ' why didn't some other NATO country ( like Britain for instance ) cough up some more combat aircraft '? The other NATO countries are only contributing a handfull of aircraft, while we are squandering our military resources from all over the globe, at an alarmingly high rate.
These spineless jellyfish in the Congress bent over and spread 'em for Clinton, during the partisan Democrat minority impeachment exoneration conspiracy, so they shouldn't be surprised when he rubs their noses deeply in the guano, over his crude illegal attempt to use the United States military to recoup his lost reputation or legacy, by killing hundreds of innocent women and children in Yugoslavia ( not that he ever had any legacy to begin with )!
